"I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" - Maya Angelou

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and is tune is heard
on the distant hillfor the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
an the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

So even though Lola is happier with longer wings and being able to fly around, you still have no problem clipping her wings and keeping her in a cage? Poor bird, may she someday fly away, happy and free from such a control freak. You have no right. It's all about YOU and your own security, rather than actually truly loving an animal, and the essence of who SHE is. She is a bird, and meant to fly, and right now God knows how miserable she is, being stuck in a ridiculous bird cage all day. You kind of people are creepy!

It is so sad to see a cat or dog depressed. They don't have a clue as to why there favorite people are gone. I would think that everyone would have a friend, family member or neighbor that could at least go over and play with the dog or cat a couple times during the day. Hire a young person in the neighbor.

G'Day! Wholelifepetsblog,
Along the same lines,, I am waiting for my wheaten terrier to be old enough to come home with me, so about oct. 30th I will have her :) I am getting ready and preparing for her arrival. I plan on doing training classes with her. What is the appropriate age for a dog to be in training classes? She will be 8 weeks when she comes home, is that too young of an age to begin classes?
Kindest Regards

After my beloved Tasha passed away, our younger dog, Oz, developed chronic diarrhea. We didn't catch it right away as it was snowy and cold outside, we were grief stricken, and had not been out to do our normal yard cleaning.

When we discovered what had happened, we realized that Ozzie was also grieving. We started spending more time with him, acknowledging his loss. Then, for the next few weeks, Oz and I would sometimes lie on Tasha's bed together, holding her in our thoughts, remembering how much we loved and missed her. It was healing for both of us, and I will never forget those sad and beautiful moments.
